I have a small Yorkie poo (7lbs~) that my parents are getting too old to take care of. So I’m taking him for keeps but my roommate has a cat (Maine coon, 15lbs~) that’s been living here since we moved in. I’ve never had a cat growing up so I didn’t know that the initial interaction between dog and cat is important to be in control of. I work tomorrow and am thinking of just locking my dog in my room so the cat can pick up my dogs smell and vice versa. Is there anything else I should be doing? My roommate is out of town for the next week so he’s not here to comfort the cat which I think would help. I’ve googled but it seems like you need to have a good controlled introduction which I botched. Any suggestions would be great!!
