Losing sleep, need cat help

My boyfriend and I adopted a kitten in October knowing she was going to be a handful because, let’s face it, kittens are a handful. This cat is absolutely insane. I know it’s because she’s bored and has nobody to play with all day while we are at work, and we are totally fine with playing with her when we get home, but when it comes to bed time, she generally doesn’t leave us alone. If we leave her in our bedroom she tears through the sheets and climbs up our curtains, which always wakes us up. We kick her out when she does that, then about two hours later she’s meowing very loudly at the door because she wants in. We get up to let her in and about two hours later she is tearing through the room again, waking us up.

I know she will surely grow out of this someday, but is there something we can do now to get her to let us sleep through the night? We have tried spraying her with water when she is tearing through everything, but it seems like she just doesn’t learn. Someone told me we just need to get her fixed, but she isn’t old enough. We are not opposed to adopting another cat to keep her company, but we’d like to see if there’s another way to calm her down before we resort to that.
