A little back story, I recently was promoted at my job and had to move to accommodate it, when I moved I took my two year old cat Storm, who lived with an English mastiff and another cat that she loved, almost two months after we moved and I started my new position I was working almost 70-80 hours a week so Stormy was home alone a lot, so I decided to adopt her a friend since she loved Charlie and Lucy so much when I lived at home. I adopted a little gray cat that was what I was told was a little male who was almost a year old, he is super sweet and playful and friendly, he just doesn’t really want me to touch him much but he is sweet and playful and the guy that’s letting me play with him says he’s great with other cats, I take Wonton home and realize quickly when he lets me love on him that he is actually a she, Storm has played with other female cats so I wasn’t too worried. They hate each other at first and I assume it’s just cats getting used to one another, I had three cats when I was younger. It’s been almost 3 months and the cats still hate each other, any help with that would be amazing I’m at my wits end with them. That being said, because they hate each other Elphie has the living room of my apartment and Storm has my bedroom, my other huge issue with Elphie is she has severe separation anxiety, I can’t even go shower in the other room without her literally crying the entire time, she doesn’t sleep, eat, drink, use the litter box or move until I come back, and it’s only when I’m home and she knows it. When I leave for work she sees me get my shoes on and keys and I pet her and I leave, she’s fine. I’ve stood outside the door for 15 minutes in the past and she’s silent, it’s just when I’m home. She drives me absolutely insane because I’m sitting with my other cat now in my room with the door shut and she’s crying her head off and I don’t know what to do with them anymore, I’m considering rehoming Elphie but I really don’t want to do that because I would always worry about her. Elphie has her own litter box, food and water, cat tree, toys and scratchy boards in the other room so she can’t possibly be bored.
