I want my wife to have a pet, but I don't think we'll be able to find a pet that works for us due to allergies/needs. Any creative ideas?

Hey folks! There are two conflicting desires I have:

  1. Bring joy to my wonderful wife by getting her an animal buddy. We can't have kids right now and she has a nurturing side that I want to give an outlet.
  2. Ensure our home is a comfortable place for guests (and for us). I absolutely cannot have something in our house that is going to irritating friends and families' allergies and get hair all over our stuff.

Issues to consider:

  • She wants something she can cuddle. Reptiles and fish are out.
  • She's pretty sound sensitive and birds aren't very cuddle-able, so they're out too.
  • I suggested an outdoor pet (which is what I grew up with and loved) and she says they're too dirty and absolutely would not want that.
  • I suggested getting a little pet pig, but she did some research online and apparently they can be quite loud.

I recognize I might be making my wife sound like a difficult person and the reality is she's super-sweet and totally okay with not getting a pet (not making a fuss at all), but I want it for her if possible.

Any ideas? Is it true that little pet pigs are pretty loud?
