A little backstory about me and pets. I've never really been a fan of cats and never had any pets. When I was 6 I got scratched by a cat once and since then I've avoided all pets. As I grew up I got over my fear of cats.
So for the past month, there's been this stray black cat that hangs outside my house. Whenever I leave the house it rubs itself on my leg and follows me around. And when I get home it rubs my legs and tries to get in to my house with me. My parents hates animals therefore my house is kind of a no pet zone so I never let the cat in.
Fast forward to today. I came home late from class and the cat was there in front of my door. Since I got no rush, I decide to sit down and the cat then jumps onto my lap and I start petting it gentle. And to be honest this cat is winning me over. But the next second. Virtually over nothing, this cat bit my right hand. And I freak out abit and calm down. Still seated it then bites and scratches my left hand. Now I'm freaked out so I stand back up. Then the cats starts purring and rubbing itself all over me again. In my confusing I decide to just go in my house and leave the cat.
But I can't help but wonder why I got scratched and bit out of nowhere. Was is something I may have done? Is it just how cats are in general? A while back I saw this video https://youtu.be/pFULjTnbPYc and I'm honestly a little bit scared this cat may flip on me like that.
Tldr: a stray cat was rubbing against me, when I sat down to pet it and chill, it bit and scratched me. Why?
