Someone called me from a no caller ID and said they found my cat on the side of the road that had been missing for 2 weeks, said they’d take it to the vet. I contact all nearby vets and nothing. He didn’t go by the vet. He calls my boyfriends number (it’s clear he’s using the lost poster sign to contact) and says that my cat has passed. Except didn’t give any information and hung up when we asked him to describe him for me and his location. Also note: it has been an raining / sprinkling since afternoon, I’m not sure if my cat would be along a road while it just recently rained... Is this some weird scam? Could it be they tried to trick me into parking at the vets to mug me? Or just someone with a sick sense of humor and strange acting skills?? I’d assume when someone knows they found a injured or deceased pet of someone searching they’d offer the location of the body and actually being the animal to the vet. I’m just very stressed right now.
