So my dog has a diaphragmatic hernia, but no symptoms from it, what should I do?

Hi,

My 2 1/2 year old beagle/jack russell mix has a diaphragmatic hernia that was found last year when we adopted him from a shelter. He also had heart worms at the time. He's a happy, healthy pup otherwise, and did the slow kill method to get rid of the heartworms over the last year.

But now a year later, I'm wondering if I need to get his hernia fixed? The vet said at the time to just monitor it and if has no symptoms or outward signs of discomfort from it, then it can wait. And they would have to refer me to a surgical center anyways to get it fixed.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation, or has some insight. He also needs to be neutered, but I was waiting on that until he was heartworm free as well. But now I need to do it as his marking is out of control...

Thanks in advance for any help or ideas you can offer!

Does getting a new pet help with the loss of another?

I recently had to put my cat down and loved him so much. The best animal I’ve ever owned.

My question is, has anyone gotten a new pet to help with the loss of another? Or is this a deep rabbit hole that I will never be able to fill? How did it work out if you did?

I should mention I have one living female cat who I think is bored from the loss of her friend as well. I want to get her another friend but don’t want to feel like I’m filling a wound that can’t be repaired.

Maybe an entirely different species of animal would be better?

Thanks for your input in advance.

I'm getting a cat, but I already have a bird.

So I have a 5 month old bird and my mom is gonna get a cat next month (still a baby cat, 3 months old) and I was thinking, if it was gonna be too much of a hassle for them to get along with each other. And another thing is that my bird she's very scared of anyone or anything like she won't let anyone touch or pick her up neither will she get on my finger.

My dog always immediately pulls to go home once he poops twice

My dog (4yo shiba) recently developped an interesting and annoying habit where, during walks, after he poops twice, he will immediately pull to go home.

What the hell? Am I doing something wrong? This is weird and has only developed recently.

Obese, snoring labrador.

I have a 3 year old labrador and she is obese. i live with my grandparents and mum. only my papa and i can take her out on walks and we have her on a diet and we take her out every day but she isn’t losing weight. i’m not always around to walk her so it’s sometimes left to my papa to do it but he isn’t as fit as he used to be and i feel like she isn’t getting the amount of walking she needs. another issue is my nana doesn’t understand, no matter how much we tell her, that it’s not okay to feed her small treats from her plate.

her snoring keeps me up every night and it’s extremely difficult to get to sleep. i’ve tried moving her to different rooms but i can hear the snoring no matter where she is in the house. i cant put her downstairs as she barks and cries which is just as bad as the snoring.

i’m worried that this is going to affect me when i start college next month and i don’t know what to do. we’re taking her to the vet for tips on how to help her lose weight but i know that she won’t be snore free in time for me starting college. i know this all probably sounds selfish but this has badly affected my mental health and i end up sleeping most of the day. i’ve always been a dog person and i love her so much and i only want to see her happy and healthy but it’s difficult to be positive enough when it’s 4:35am and i need to be up in less than 4 hours.

i feel that she would be much happier and healthier if she was with a family who could give her exactly what she needs since my grandparents are very old and i won’t be around to look after her when i start college. my family have already said that under no circumstance are they rehoming her.

i’m not sure why i’m posting this but i guess i just need some sort of advice.

Should i be worried if a recently vaccinated dog bit me?

So i made the stupid mistake of petting my sister's dog while she was eating. She was digging in some trash and i didn't notice. Initially she only growled at me so i left her alone and she quickly got bored and walked away from the trash. A few moments later she seemed to want to reach for my hands, i didn't think much of it cause she normally likes to play by jumping whenever i raise my hands but she never bites me.

However when i tried to playfully pet her again she went and bit my hand. The bite isn't too deep but it did bleed a bit. I inmediately washed it with soap and water. She was vaccinated in February so she's up to date. She doesn't seem to be behaving strangely but she did seem a bit anxious after she bit me.

The waiting period for my new cat's insurance ends tomorrow. Today, I found a small wound on her neck, and made a vet appointment for Monday. Is this considered pre-existing?

I bought Healthy Paws for my new cat on July 15th, it became effective July 16th, and it has a 15 day waiting period after the effective date. So, today is the last day of the waiting period and tomorrow I can start making claims.

Earliest appointment I could get is on Monday - since that's after the waiting period, will I be able to make a claim? I know technically I discovered the issue during the waiting period...but would they even know? Would the vet tell them when I called?

Raspy meow and lethargic

I can't get my five year old cat to my vet until Tuesday morning, but two days ago he started having a raspy meow, and yesterday he threw up a little clear fluid and acting lethargic. I want to keep him as comfortable as possible until then, so is it better to keep my place warmer and humid, or cooler and dry? He normally eats dry food(Science Diet), but I'm switched to wet food to keep him hydrated. I'm hoping he only has some sort upper respiratory infection.

How toxic is tea tree oil to cats?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I'm really worried. I had this tea tree thing put on my face, it's really greasy/ oily. Few hours later I forgot all about it and went and kissed my cat all over, then I remembered it's toxic. I rushed and cleaned him with a wet towel, but he had already started cleaning himself and I'm not sure what use a wet towel is. How toxic is it exactly and would there be anything a vet can do if I take him now?

How should I be handling my hamster?

I got her about 2 weeks ago. She's about a month old I think. She likes to stay in her tunnels most of the time and comes out to exercise and bite the bars of her cage at night. I really want to handle her and get her to trust me but I don't want to frighten her. I've been grabbing her out of her cage but I don't think I should be doing it anymore since it will probably scare her. How should I get her to want to be held by me? I put my hand in her cage and let her smell me for a bit then took a bit of food out of her bowl and she took it off my hand and ate it. Is this good? What should I be doing?

Need help finding a specific toy possum for our elderly dog. Rob Possum toy

Our senior Shepherd mix is obsessed with a specific possum toy - we used to buy-out the stock of these toys at the Minipet Marts whenever we passed them because we found out that they've discontinued this specific toy. We haven't found any more of these toys in about 2 years of searching.

Our dog LOVES this toy - we've tried other brands, other possums, similar fabrics, the works, and nothing compares to his love of these possums. We give him a new one every 6 - 12 months after they're worn out (or our other dog manages to disembowel and dismember the current toy in circulation), and we only have two new possums left.

We can't find them online. We've searched for hours online, but no luck.

If anyone has seen these toys at their local pet shops or could provide a lead, please let us know. We'll call and order from anywhere.

The brand is "afp, all for paws, Classic. Rob Possum or Rob l'Opossum". Its a soft peach-faced, scruffy gray-furred toy with a squeeker and a knotted rope tail.

How do I discipline my dog? He has a habit of attacking me when angry.

I have a french bull dog which my brother passed on after moving. I was not involved in his upbringing from when he was a puppy.

My dog is not very affectionate or caring. He seems to be very stubborn and only listens to my sit command when i have food.

He barks at strangers and I can’t let strangers in the house or he begins to bark and attack them even biting them aggressively.

Whenever I try to get him to be behind his “dog fence” area in the house i set up for him to walk around when I dont want him to roam around the house he begins to bark and bite.

Is there any way to change this behavior?

The Difference Between AKC and ACA Dogs.

American dog registries are known around the world for their services. These are the American Canine Association (ACA) and the American Kennel Club (AKC). The American Kennel Club is the oldest dog registry of the United States, having a history of many years. And the American Canine Association founded over thirty years ago. But when we have a look at the quality and number of services, the American Canine Association seems to be far more beneficial than its other competitor. Although in the past, there was a very high competition between the two registries, with the gradual advancement and improvements in the services of dog breeding, ACA has left other registries far behind in popularity among the dog breeders.

AKC and ACA both have competition dog shows, but AKC does have a higher number of the dog show. After deep research of the services provided by both companies, it is observed that the ACA is geared more towards the veterinary health tracking side of the dog. ACA hosts the world’s largest genetic health tracking database on dogs. ACA was founded in 1984 by breeders and veterinarians who desired a much higher and comprehensive level of tracking the genetic health of the puppies the show breeders were breeding. ACA tracks the genetic health through the lifetime of the dogs and reports both positive and negative genetic health-related issues back to the breeder fo the dogs.

Prior to the early 1990s, professional breeders were registering their dogs with AKC for the showing their dogs in conformation dog shows and also with ACA for the veterinary health tracking. Then in 1991, professional dog breeders lobbied ACA to begin sanctioning dog shows. ACA then stepped ahead of AKC by recognizing the legitimately earning conformation and working titles of dogs imported into the United States by professional and hobby breeders.

The registration fee for a dog in the ACA registry is only $19, and a certificate of height 11 inches and 8.5 inches printed on a certificate paper of standard quality with a gold seal is given to each customer. AKC’s dog registration fee is $37.99, and the registration certificated is i/3 the size of the ACA registration certificate. ACA does not charge any penalty fees for late registrations. AKC charges up to $65.00 in late penalty fees. To see all of AKC’s fees and penalty fees go to https://www.akc.org/register/information/fee-schedule/

ACA will register an AKC registered dog with ACA with proof of AKC Certificate Registration. AKC will register an ACA registered dog with AKC with proof of ACA Certificate Registration and pedigree leading back to AKC linage. The international dog registry Fédération CynologiqueInternationale FCI accepts both ACA and AKC with proof of registration and an officially certified pedigree for ACA or AKC.

There is also a unique feature of the ACA registry that makes it distinct from others, and that is the free lost and found tags. These tags are characterized by having a seal on one side of the tag. And on the other side of the tag, ‘I am lost. Please call’ is printed. For this purpose, a toll-free 1-800 number and a unique ID number is allocated for each dog after registration. The toll-free number is active 24/7 to make the reunion of a lost dog and ACA owner possible. The interesting fact is that there are no extra charges for this lost and found tags service.

American Canine Association is among a few of the largest dog registries in the USA. American Canine Association was founded in 1984. Since its formation, the ACA has made so much development in the field of dogs breeding that it has now become the United States’ most popular dog registry. The level of its quality services can be guessed with the fact that it is the world’s only registry offering health tracking for dogs. AKC was founded by a number of different dog breeding clubs belonging to different nationalities. That was the reason that it could not succeed in providing the Americans with the best level services because of their founders belonging to different nationalities. Although the American Canine Association has crossed the AKC in providing quality services in reasonable fees, the only prominent distinction of the AKC is that it holds many dog competitions and events. But looking at the actual facts, it can be seen that holding more competition and events has nothing to do with providing better and good-level services to the customers and breeders.

Although the AKC is the oldest dog registry in the USA, its influence has been lessened by the ACA, which has become the most influential dog registry during the past few decades. ACA offers breeders the tools they need to be the very best breeders at https://www.starbreeder.org and https://www.mykennel.org free of charge.

ACA acquired MARRS Microchip Corp. and lifetime lost and found service microchip registration is included free of charge with all ACA and ICA registered dogs. The AKC’s microchip division for lost and found protection is known as AKC Reunite. The total charges for the registration of a purebred dog with a lifetime AKC Reunite lost and found coverage is $54.95.

Looking at the above comparison and discussion, it can be stated that ACA, although set up far later than the AKC has more benefits and offer quality services to the customers. Also, the ACA offers services at lesser costs than AKC. Although the AKC was once a top-level dog registry in the USA, it has failed in providing the services according to the modern needs and demands. ACA, on the other hand, is continuously providing customers and breeders with high-quality services that are being improved day by day.

Cat vomited 3 times in the past hour.

My cat is a year and a half he’s a domestic short hair. He originally threw up an hour ago it looked light brown/yellow it smelled like his food and there was no sign of blood or unfamiliar objects. An hour passes he throws up again, seconds later he vomits again. His vomit remains the same color but on the third vomit it’s not as solid as the first ones. He’s still drinking water and is asking for food right now. I’m unsure if I should feed him and if I should take him to the vet in the morning.

Will my cat be fine being alone?

I live alone in a 2 bedroom apartment. I’ve been thinking about getting an older, more calm cat and want to keep it as an indoor cat.

I work 8 hours a day and I am mostly home on the evenings (I’m a homebody) but sometimes I also visit friends a few hours or go away for a day in the weekend.

I will play with it and stimulate it mentally as well and give it lots of love and attention when I am home

However I fear it will still get lonely and I don’t want that .. what’s your experience?

should i report my neigjbor for animal cruelty or confront them first?

I have a neighbor(I'm not sure how long he's been there) who I would definitely consider to be abusing his dogs. For a long time now, the dogs have been constantly tied up in his yard on short leashes and it is horrible. My county considers tethering an animal for more than 3 hours animal crielty, and the animals are never not tethered in the yard. Beyond that, there is a small dog house on the side of the stairs where they are tethered that only one dog seems to be able to reach with the leash. The others leash seems too short to even get in the doghouse. One dog is also aggressive and when she sees someone walking by, will start barking and straining at her leash and is legitimately choking herself. It is horrible to watch and you can hear her wheezing. I'm not even sure but she might be aggressive because she never gets exercise or human interaction. We walk by at all hours of the day and the dogs are alone and tied up, the owner is always out back. I'm considering reporting this for animal cruelty, but was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether or not I should try to talk to the owner first. Should I try to ascertain why he is treating his animals like this and help him understand why it is wrong, or could it possibly put the dogs in danger if he then gets mad at someone butting in his business?

Very sick cat. Looking for support.

Tako (Taco) is my 9 year old tortie baby. We have no idea what happened but she was and indoor/outdoor cat prior to this. I'm such an asshole, I know. A week ago she had a sniffle and a runny nose. The next morning she vomited and had a fever. Today, vet said she was very dehydrated and had lost 10 oz of weight even though we have beem force feeding her, apparently not enough. She hasn't pooped in a week, but hadn't eaten for 3 days. My vet has provided good care, however they are busy and I have felt so rushed every time we bring her in. The vet also said that if she doesn't get better soon, I may have to consider a feeding tube or potentially putting her down if her liver is too far gone (her count was very high a week ago and they haven't tested again). Her temp responded to the antibiotics. She's keeping all food down but they gave me cerenia for some reason when I was concerned about her not pooping, thinking she was constipated. Also giving antibiotic 2x a day and denamarin, prednisone, and an appetite stimulant. She just got the prednisone and appetite meds in her for the first time today. She's been very lethargic but always puts up a bit of a fight when we feed her... I'm just so sad at the thought of losing her. She's the only family I brought with me when I moved across the country to be with my boyfriend 2 years ago. Any suggestions or stories you have that might help me in any way in this emotional time would be appreciated. Thank you. Hold your fur babies tight.

Tips for a (virtual) home visit?

My partner and I were just contacted back about adopting a kitty. The organization that we applied to is conducting virtual home visits as part of the application process.

I've only ever done a home visit for a dog years ago. Is there anything in particular that they will be looking for or hoping to see with a cat/kitten? We live in a one bedroom. Will that be a negative? He seems like a really good fit for us but he's a cute little guy so we probably have a ton of competition and I'd like to knock the interview/visit out of the park if I can.

My old cat goes into the bathroom to yowl

My cat is a 13 year old male, not sure if Maine Coon or Forest Cat, and he is diabetic. For years now he finds the bathroom of whatever home I live in with him and will just go and yowl like he is dying. He does it maybe once a day at most with seemingly no regularity. I am convinced that he just likes the sound. He is not distressed or hungry or anything so far as I can tell. Hes old and diabetic so hes thinned and as of recently he has no more teeth but his yowling much older then any of that.

I moved in with some friends not long ago and my buddy has a male cat, and they hated each other at first, though his cat was kinda mean to everything. Now they spar. Like they bat and grab and nibble on each other. At first we thought they were attacking each other for dominance but after we realized that there is no claws no blood no screaming or hissing they are actually play fighting; something I didn't know male cats can continue doing well into adulthood. But now that they are buddies my roommate has told me hes caught his cat yowling also for no reason. I genuinely think my cat taught it to him. I bring up them sparring cause now when they are done my cat will go yowl in our bathroom, sometimes multiple times if they spar again and again. But hes not hurt at all just screaming for as far as I can tell for funsies.

The point of all of this is have you ever heard a cat just yowling for fun?

How long does IV rehydration take for cats?

Hello, my poor kitty has vomited a bunch yesterday morning and hasn't eaten or drank anything since. Took him to the emergency vet and they are keeping him for 24 hours for IV rehydration. Does anyone know if this is a normal length of time for this? He gets so stressed at the vet and I hate leaving him that long. Ive had it where the vet gave a 500 ml sub q bolus over 20 minutes. It's gonna cost 1100$ and just wondering if this is a normal amount of time for it.

2-year-old we thought was a girl is actually a boy

Took our cat in for her(his) 2-year checkup. Everything looked good said the vet, cat is maybe a little fat.

Then he said, "maybe there was a mixup at the shelter, but this cat has a penis." No external testicles, but she (he) is a large cat so that would explain the size..

Very strange to start thinking of my 2-year-old pet as a boy now. Picture of Mika: https://photos.app.goo.gl/tRKDaw1XQHrKzhUs6

I don't think this changes anything, the vet said sometimes the sexual organs are internal. I'm not sure if he (she) is fully male then? Or some type of hybrid.

My cat comes up to me just to bite me. Is this normal?

  • Species: calico cat
  • Age: 3
  • Sex/Neuter status: fixed female
  • Body weight: 11 lbs
  • History: adopted 10 months ago
  • Clinical signs:
  • Duration: 2 months
  • Your general location: USA

The other day I was sitting on the couch, and my cat jumped up just to bite me. I know cats will bite sometimes when they're tired of being petted. Previously, I was drinking water and she just ran up and bit me. This is my first cat. One of my friends told me that one of her cats has done this before. My cat only randomly goes up and bites me. She doesn't do this to my husband. She also bites if we don't give her food when she begs, but that's just because she's a fatty.

Fox in my backyard and in the street, I have cats

Tonight I saw a fox in my backyard. I have two cats, one of them is a bigger kitten so he is kept in the house for tonight because I am scared for him. Later during the night when I called my cats to come inside, my kitten came all scared and a few seconds later I heard fox killing neighbor's chickens. It sounded awful and was going on for like 4 or 5minutes, I went inside of the house with my cats and then 5 minutes later I heard two shots from the outside, I don't know who shot them but I guess they were aiming for the fox, 10 minutes later I decided to go outside to see what happened and as I opened my door fox was standing literally less than a meter away from me and run away on my balcony as I closed my door and went back in the house.

I am scared for safety of my cats. Especially the little one. They are both outside and inside cats, I have a nice backyard and surroundings for them to be and I don't want to keep them only inside, I mean, tbh I also really can't because they become unbearable if they are only inside and I need to let them out them. I am afraid that the fox will keep coming back to my yard, I have a bowl with water for cats outside and also I keep their dry food outside so that they have something to eat if they are out at the night and become hungry. I am scared of their safety and that fox will keep coming to my yard because of the water and the food, should I be worried? My backyard is pretty much an open concept as most of the neighborhood's yards also are so I guess it is pretty easy for a fox to roam around.

Dog stole art project.

I had a sculpture drying in the shed a few days ago and my dog has taken it and buried it. My backyard is pretty big so it’s gonna be hard to find it.

Is there anything I can do to make the search easier?

Trying to do proper introductions for cats since moving in together but SO's cat sometimes gets into newcomers' room by bolting in behind me and attacks my 2 cats. He's VERY aggressive and will not calm down. We are desperate for help

I have two neutered male cats who are 9 years old and my SO has 2 cats who are just over 1 year.

My cats are the newcomers and my SO's cats are the resident cats.

His one cat--a neutered male Ron--is a wonderful friendly cat to us and his littermate. However, he sits by the bedroom door where my 2 cats are kept and hisses. Anytime I open the door he either hisses or, as of the last week, will lunge and try to get into my room to attack them. I try to slip through the smallest opening I can in the door but sometimes he gets in. So far it's resulted in him attacking my one cat who is now being treated for an abscess from an infected bite wound, and just now he bit my foot enough to draw blood while I tried to slip through the door. This is week 7 of me moving in and trying to do introductions.

We have done introductions for the other 3 cats (my 2 males and my SO's 1 female) and they are all fine. His cat Ron will not calm down in his aggression. He specifically goes after my cat Pumpkin when given the opportunity. He and my cats have never been in the same room together save the 2 times he has gotten by me to attack them. My poor 2 males are very stressed, will sometimes spray if they hear Ron scratching at the door, and are confined to my bedroom all day. I feel so badly for them.

I know it's not Ron's fault because he's just being a cat, but I'm at my wit's end. We moved in together because that's where our relationship is at and also for financial reasons now with COVID

Things we have tried:

  • having my cats in the room with the door closed with no attempt at introduction steps to let them acclimate
  • we have a Feliway Classic and a Feliway Friends insert
  • Feeding them at the same time but separated by the door
    • we were stuck on this step but after my SO's cat Ron attacked Pumpkin and Pumpkin developed an abscess, we are just keeping them separate and not pushing for any stage of introductions

I can't even let my 2 cats out to roam in the rest of the apartment because Pumpkin is so tense that he spray when let out of the room. Please help us :(

Cats is mean and pees on bed

We are having a bit of trouble with our 3 years old cat. We recently moved and since then he has peed in our bed 5 times in the last 2 weeks.

We have a young 1year old dog that takes a lot of time and sadly the cats is not getting as much attention.

Since the incident, we are doing the litter box every 3 days and it keeps happening.

We need some help to stop this from happening

Rescued kitten won't sleep

I rescued a kitten two days ago. She is 5,6 weeks old. She is very sweet and affectionate but the problem is that she doesn't sleep much and I'm worried about her health. She has so much energy, wants to play always. She always is running around and creating troubles. She broken my curtain already. I know she should sleep 16-18 hours a day but she sleeps barely 8 hours. She sleeps 2,3, 4 hours and then she wakes up and wants to play. Why is she so hyperactive and how can I make her sleep? I play with her A LOT and she also play on her own but she still wants more.

I need to sue my ex for dog visitation

My ex will not allow me to see our oldest dog, she got rid of our second dog who was my bday present, and she finally told me 3 weeks after the fact. But yeah she is becoming more and more irrational and psychotic and weird. And he is getting more and more disobedient and sad... I wonder why? Probably because he loves me and she is introducing him to every guy she brings over to our apartment.Idk what the hell to do, has anyone dealt with this before? Any help would be superb. Moved out of my father's apartment with my cat (17). Did I do the right thing? How long until he adjusts? What should I look out for? Please need advice

Hello!

I've had my cat since I was three years old and we grew up in my parents apartment. I am now 20 and he is 17 years old. I recently graduated and moved across the city into my own apartment, and at first I left the cat with my father. I didn't intend on taking him with me because I didn't know what kind of job I would have in the future and I would still visit once a week or every two weeks. My cat was primarily attached to me, would follow me around all the time, sleep on me and in my bed, be around me all the time. He had an okay relationship with my father but you could tell that I was his #1 person. When I moved out at first everything was fine and he didn't seem to miss me too much, but my dad did say that he seemed extremely happy to see me every time I was around and seemed kind of sad when I left, but it's not like he'd stop eating or anything like that.

So my dad and his girlfriend of one year (who at the moment is unemployed and therefore home all the time) were going to split up (their relationship is very unstable) and my father told me that I had to take the cat because if his girlfriend was gone, he wouldn't be able to take care of my cat. (Especially cause he's an older cat and is starting to have issues with his joints, needs more vet checkups). He's at work between 9-10+ hours a day. The day of the move my dad told me that he and his girlfriend weren't actually splitting up after all, but I decide to take the cat with me anyways because I'm unemployed right now and if they break up further down the line and I have to move my cat, it'll be harder for him to adjust if I'm not home as much during the adjustment period.

The move itself wasn't too bad - he hid under the bed for approximately an hour but I got him to come outside with some treats, and then an hour later he even went and explored the rest of the apartment willingly. It's been two days and he's using his new litter box, eats, has a new favorite spot on the couch already, sleeps in my bed, and overall seems pretty comfortable. You can tell he's still obviously not used to it (very alert at all times, etc), but considering his age and that he's lived in that other apartment his whole life, he seems to adjust very well.

How long does it take cats to adjust to a new environment in situations like this? I'm kind of anxious and don't want to leave him alone. I was gone for about an hour or two yesterday and he seemed to be totally fine when I came back, but I guess I'm just paranoid because I wanna do everything right and I don't want him to freak out because he's in a new environment. I love him a lot and I just kind of want to do what's best for him and I'm scared that I fucked up by moving him to an entirely new apartment at that age. I also want to take him to the vet for a checkup some time soon, but I don't know how long I should wait? I don't want to put him in too many stressful situations, and I feel like going to the vet now for a checkup would be too much.

Looking for advice about a sick cat

Hi. I have 2 tabby cats from the same litter, and one of them has been sick for a while. He's about 11 years old. He has periods of around 3-4 days where he vomits a lot (mostly on an empty stomach) and poops on the floor. You can hear his breathing, and he sneezes mucus every once in a while. It has been confirmed he does not have asthma, but he does definitely have inflammation of his respiratory tract. It sounds to me like allergies, but I've changed the food several times. Sometimes this makes him better for a while, but he always ends up sick again. He has healthy periods as well. In all, he's probably sick about 20-30% of days, and these days are all back-to-back. I have taken him to the vet (2 separate vets) probably around 10 times over the past 3 years. I've changed the food many times, and I've given him many different medication combinations for months at a time, but they all end up making him extremely sick every day (much much sicker than without medication). They always do the exact same tests for the same conditions, and give me medication which makes him sicker. I don't know what to do at this point. The most recent vet said something like "you do what you can", and that I should accept our cat will just remain sick. Our other cat seems perfectly healthy. The vets seem to just be taking advantage of our situation at this point. I feel so bad for my cat, and I really don't want to just accept he will be this way until he dies. I am willing to try something new so long that it is reasonable and safe.

HELP my cat (boy + 6 years old) is crying a leaving my house because I adopted a kitty (girl 2 months)

Yesterday I adopted a kitty (girl 2 months)! But I have another cat (boy maybe + 6 years old) who’s coming since one year to my house (he is my neighbor‘s cat, the only thing that we know about the owners is: they are a Spanish couple and they are not living in the same building) and this cat (boy) is spending all the day in my house, but now he is so disappointed with the new kitty and he is crying a lot (and he is leaving my house)

Do you know what can I do or if the situation could get better?

And also my boyfriend is so sad and disappointed with the situation and that is not helping me, it’s making me fill so stressed. He is constantly telling me why I adopt the kitty if we already had a cat and I’m feeling so BROKE inside in this moment. I don’t want to give back this kitty but I also want my older cat back :(

Need training advice- Puppy now loving to chase ducks.

So my pup is a year old now. Still working on recall. Not allowed off leash.

Great in the fishing boat. However recently started taking her kayaking and swimming though. Now she loves to jump in and chase ducks swimming. She will swim until she drowns if she’s off her leash. Haven’t tried her in the fishing boat again yet.

Do y’all have any advice for me? Any way to break her of duck chasing? Do you think she will be okay in the boat like previously? Boats and kayaks are much different, she was always interested in ducks but never would jump off to chase them.

I adopted 18-day old cockatiels and I need all the help I can get.

My sister and I got two baby cockatiels yesterday and they are the sweetest things - the person who gave them to us said they were 20-22 days old, but they look more of 18-21 days old ...

Anyways, I asked several cockatiel owners I know how often/when I should feed them. The person himself said to feed them 3 times daily a full syringe of formula. My friend and my cousin said the same thing. However, my other friend said to feed them once every 2 hours, 4-6 hours at night. AND the internet says to feed them every 3 hours except nighttime.

Obviously I'm lost. Since I brought them home at 10pm, I fed them at 1am, 4:45am, 8:45am, and 12:30pm. Where do I go from here? If anyone has a feeding schedule do share, and I guess I'll go with the majority.

THANK YOU SO MUCH - from me and the baby birbs!

What are some good cat doors for cold weather?

Looking for some ideas for the best extreme cold weather cat door. I live in north Wisconsin, negative temperatures are normal. The door won't be going outside, but into a minimally heated porch. (No wind)

I'm thinking a plastic/PVC frame with multiple flaps? Do pet doors have insulation in the frame, or the flaps? Any extra steps to take in preventing drafts?

Can I get a cat if my roommates have 3 dogs?

Hi guys. I really want to adopt a cat. I grew up with them and have yet to have my own as an adult. My cat, who I had since I was 4 and after college has lived with my parents in another state, recently passed away after 19.5 years. I feel empty without one and I hate knowing there's so many cats who need homes and... now I'm getting off topic.

Here's the problem: I have 2 roommates, among them is 3 dogs. There's a husky (on the smaller side of huskies), a blue lacy mix (medium size), and a 8 month old puppy who's a german shepherd/lab mix. We share a decently sized house and I don't feel space is an issue. However, is it smart to bring in a cat to this environment? The dogs are all friendly, one has had positive experiences with cats, but who's to say? Of course I'd adopt a friendly cat, ideally with experience with dogs. I would also get an adult. I would do everything I can to make the transition of the cat meeting the dogs as smooth as possible. But is it possible?

I don't know if I should just wait until I have my own place or what. Both my roommates say it's fine to get a cat, but I still wonder. Our landlord is surprisingly cool and I doubt would have an issue, I'll ask them if/when I decide to seriously look into adopting.

I'd appreciate any advice/insight/experiences anyone might have.

Thank you so much!

Moving in less than a year and don't know what to do for my dog. Need Advice.

My dog is 13 years old. I've had him my entire life. I'm 19M and I'm applying to MA programs abroad for Fall 2021.

He has arthritis and some mobility issues but still goes on off-leash walks. He gets grain-free premium dog food, I give him an anti-inflammatory and omega fatty acids for his joints, and I give him treats in his Kong to stimulate his mind. He lives like a king.

But he's most likely to old to move with me to a foreign city. He grew up with a dog buddy with me in my mom's house, but now he's just with me and he does much better in a one-dog home.

The best solution is to give him to my mom who he's familiar with and has an old friend, but I feel bad leaving him because 1) he'll feel abandoned 2) his life won't be as awesome 3) my biggest fear is that he'll be sad because of my absence and that'll be the last straw that makes him pass away.

Would it be crazy to move abroad with him at his age? What should I do and what should I feel?

Cat Diabetes

Im not really looking for advice, just feel like expressing my upset. If this is posted in the wrong place I apologize.

My cat has a food allergy, our vet is trying to get it under control. its very difficult because she is a rescue cat and is incredibly skittish. A few months back I took her to a new vet for a checkup on it and some treatment. They gave her a steroid injection to help calm her skin.

Ever since this everything has been horrible.

I have found a new vet since this and I was made aware that these injections can cause diabetes in cats. I remember specifically asking before the injection if there were complications and I was told no. My cat now has all the symptoms of diabetes. Its suspected that she has it..

Im 19 years old, job searching for a new minimum wage job, I come from a low income household. I have no idea how im going to financially or mentally support this anymore..

I am absolutely devastated.

I feel its basically my fault that she will now be sick for the rest of her life. I feel horrible. I just wanted to help her allergies and now ive basically ruined her quality of life. Please Please Please if you have cats or know someone that has cats, tell them to NEVER allow their vet to give this prednisone injection to cats, only pills.

I just wanted to express how upset I am and possibly help other cat owners by making them aware of this.

Need advice for rehoming kittens

I have two different kittens from different shelters that I’ve had for two weeks and I need to rehome them. My partner who lives with me found out he is severely allergic and medicines don’t help and it’s gotten so bad that he can’t sleep here, on top of the fact that I’m not home enough to give them enough attention and I already feel so guilty and have been crying every day this week. The problem is that the shelters each request that adopted pets be brough back to their shelter alone. I called them and they both said that the kittens would be separated if I brought them in. This breaks my heart because they’re bonded and spend all day playing and sleeping together. I think they need to be be adopted together. Should I go ahead against the shelter’s wishes and try to find someone to adopt them as a pair on my own, or listen to the shelter and allow them to be separated? I want only what’s best for them.

Any ideas on what I could give my cat to eat tommorow? He has IBD and is on a special diet..

My mum left us (me 18 and my sister 17) home alone for a ten days.

My cat got recently diagnosed with IBD and it didn't got better so he's on veterinary food rn.

It's been a week since my mum left, she gave us 100zł each in case we run out of food.

I spend 30zł on his new cat food that our vet recomended. He eats one bowl of it per day and yesterday (in the middle of the night) I noticed his food is about to run out.

I fucked up, I thought it will last for those ten days (it's his first time eating it and he's not a huge fan of dry food so I thought he'll be picky. I also failed my math class if that's relevant).

After doing my math a week ago I thought I had some money for myself to spend as I like so I spend 40zł on a game and the rest on ciggaretes... I know I'm stupid.. I asked my sister and she also don't have any left.

So the plan was to call my grandma today for help in advance because the delivery of that food takes 24h so he would have a new bag tommorow. My grandma didn't picked out since she's working and now the vet is closed.

She'll come over tommorow and I'll buy him his food and also take him to the vet since it didn't worked but that means he doesn't have anything to eat tommorow exept for that cheap cat food from the grocery store...

I don't want to starve him for a day and I don't want to make the situation worse by giving him that crap.. What do I do? Could I borrow more money from my grandma and cook him some chicken (without any toppings, just chicken in boiled water) or is it a bad idea? Should I but him a good quality food from the vet that isn't a veterinary food and didn't helped before but at least contains meat?

How to stop begging issues?

I know, I know... the internet is full of solutions, but I want some real talk with this. I have three levels of begging here. My hound mix, Meidri, will sit and stare or play growl/mutter at you, but that's all. You tell her to lay down or go to her crate she'll listen.

My second level is my one year old, Ais (who literally just about everyone knows because of her other issues), who will get right in your face and stare at you, or, if she feels brave, she'll wait until you're not present and then take your food or will lick it while you walk past hoping you'll throw it to her. But she still listens when you tell her to go lay down usually.

My last issue, and probably the absolute worst, is what my pupper Ottarl does. HE doesn't care what you say or do. He will be right up on you about human foods (which I don't even feed him, I don't know if my mom does or not.) and he won't back off. He'll actually start slowly nudging and pushing your cups, plates and bowls off of the table to try knocking it off so he can take your food from you, or, he'll just jump up on you and try to take it from your hands.

Now, I wouldn't slap a puppy... but I need him to stop this, I'd like them all to stop actually, but Ottarl is the worst by far. My mom lets it happen though and actually indirectly encourages it with her own dogs, because she caves into it and gibes them human foods, she lets them sit right in her face all the time, and she lets my dogs do it to, even if I yell at them not to. I'm moving soon though and I absolutely want this behavior corrected, ESPECIALLY Ottarl's behaviors. He's got some balls on him to act so openly and nonchalantly, he doesn't even care if you're watching him do it.

Found dog! Having trouble finding owner. Need tips

Hi all,

On Sunday my mom found a sweet little dog (I believe he is Pomeranian mixed with Chihuahua) and we have had him at home ever since. It was so hot out that we just couldn't find it in our hearts to not take him in.

The problem is that we have a dog and although our dog is calm, this pomchi does NOT like our dog. It is getting difficult to have him but we do not want to take him to a shelter :(

We have already put his picture up in the ring app, pawboost, a Facebook lost pets group, my dad knocked on houses in our neighborhood and we have even made flyers for this sweet dog..but nothing yet.

What if we don't find the owner? We cannot keep him for too long. In our city it is a minimum of 2 weeks till a lost dog can be rehomed (and I think that's the max we could keep him at home) My concern is that although this dog is super cute, he is an older dog (I can tell from how he walks, teeth and his eyes) so I fear no one will want him and I really don't want to have to take him to a shelter. That is why we are doing our best to help this baby even though it is hard because of our dog.

Any tips greatly appreciated!!!

TLDR : we found a cute lost dog, can't keep him for long because we have another dog, don't want to take him to a shelter..but so far no luck on finding the owner. What is the best thing we can do to help this poor pup if we cannot find the owner or find a good home to take him in?

Is my kitten ok?

My kitten is almost a year old, and he just fell. He landed on my phone charger. It looked like he put a hole in the rubber part of the charger. He didn't show any pain or anything and just walked away. If he did get a shock, will he be affected now, after in any way?

My dog's bday

Hey everyone,

I am writing for the first time on reddit as I needed opinion from you all on something which is making me feel terrible.

So day before yesterday was my dog's first b'day which is coincidentally on the same day as my late mother's b'day who passed away couple of years ago.

Since this had always been a very joyous day for me since childhood, I thought let me relive those days again.

I clicked a photograph of my mother's photo and my doggo in the same frame with a cake. It was a very emotional moment for me as it brought back so many memories from childhood.

I shared that pic with my family and some of my mother's very close friends. One of my mother's friend came back stating that this a very offensive photograph and how could I as a son do such a thing.

It kind of hit me really hard that am I actually a terrible son?

Please tell me your opinion if I have done something wrong here.

Kennel a kitty?

Okay, I did not think I'd have to make this post but I'm getting frustrated. I have a cat who is not spayed (our other cats are, she is an exception due to preexisting conditions, I will not discuss further so please no "just spay her" comments, I would, and it would be much easier on us, but I'm trying to do what's best for her). She goes into heat every once in a while, and up until now it was fine. What's changed is that this is her first heat cycle since I've had a baby, and sleep is oh so precious. She will not leave us alone while we're in bed, and I worry she'll try to climb into the baby's crib.

I feel bad even asking, but would it be okay to cage her just at night so we can sleep? Is it too mean to do? We don't have a room we could just put her in, otherwise I would choose that, I love her and have had her since I found her in a dumpster 4 years ago as a tiny baby. I really don't want her to feel unloved or unwanted, but I desperately need sleep. It's 3am and I'm exhausted

HELP!!! My CHICKEN is HURT by a HAWK!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello I am writing this really quick!

So I have chickens ranging from 4 weeks to 10 week (mainly all are 10 weeks). My brother was outside today and all of sudden noticed a hawk and it actually attached one of our chicks (about a 10 week one).

I made sure to get all my chickens inside as soon as possible and then noticed that one of them was quite, alone, and scared. He didn't want to be with the other chickens. I didn't realize he was hurt at the moment because everything happened so fast I was trying to get the chickens inside and my rabbits.

My brother told me the hawk was fighting the chicken. I thought that the chicken didn't actually get hurt until I noticed the odd behavior. I immediately checked the whole chicken and saw that some of the skin was ripped off. (This is my first time I am having chickens I have no clue what I am doing and didn't know what to do). It was a little bit of the skin. He was walking fine but he just wanted to be alone in the corner. He also didn't eat or drink.

This chicken is one of the loudest and fastest out of all. He is amazing. This odd behavior was unusual. Anyway, what do I do????????????!!!!!!!!!

Currently, it is night time and I have put all the chicks away. They are tried and sleepy. Tomorrow I will check on them and see if he's okay (I really hope he is.)

Any advice on what I can do now and for future references?

By the way ever sense we've gotten chcikens I've notices hawks. This is 1 of the 2 times I seen one up close (by the way more have come and other family members have noticed) The first time the hawk was able to do no harm as I noticed it right away, however, this time one of my chickens got hurt. By the way, I put the chicken inside but the hawk didn't leave. The hawk was circulating my house and the neighboring houses for more than an hour after the incident I don't know why. It even came close to me. Why do I feel like it stills outside, I'm scared?!

Questions:

How do I cure my chick, he's hurt and I'm sad?

What do I do now and for future references if one of my chickens gets hurt again?

How do I keep hawks away?

Are the hawks harmful to my rabbits to (they are about 2 years and 6 months)?

By the way there are always crows around my house are they harmful to the chickens to?

Any other animals I should be aware of?

Thank you!!!!

Should I give away my new bunny even though he’s great?

I just adopted a bunny two weeks ago. I used to have bunnies and other pets as a child but this is the first pet I’m responsible for all by myself. Before I adopted him I read up on everything I could find about bunnies and I think I was very prepared. He is running around freely in my apartment and is only locked in his playpen occasionally. This has been going great! He’s potty trained and he barely chews on my things. He’s just very curious and loves to explore my apartment. All in all, he’s a great bunny. He’s sweet, cuddly, well-behaved and playful. He loves being petted by me or even others and often asks for it.

Now, for the last week after the initial excitement left I started to feel weird about having a bunny in my apartment. I love pets and I was sure I would love to have him around me but now I’m not so sure about it anymore. I can’t pinpoint it but somehow I regret having adopted him even though he’s so great. I get annoyed at his noises in the morning and almost feel like he’s “invading my space”. At the same time, I have this feeling that people think it’s weird that I have a bunny run around freely in my apartment and judge me for it. I know it shouldn’t matter to me what other people think and I don’t even know if that’s what they think but somehow I can’t get that thought out of my head. The last thing that I keep thinking about is that I always wanted a dog and will likely get one with my bf one day in the future. Before I got the bunny I thought that the bunny and the dog would just get along when we get one if introduced properly. Now I’m just wondering if I made the wrong decision getting a bunny now while I actually want a dog later.

It’s only been two weeks, should I give it more time? Or should I make the decision to give him away while he’s still young and new to my house? His previous owner has a lot of bunnies in a big outdoor space and offered me to take him back if that ever becomes necessary so that option is there I just don’t know if that’s what I want. I don’t know if I want him or not.

The truth about Petland as told by a veterinary technician and former employee

I am a veterinary technician with over 15 years in the veterinary industry. I worked at Petland in 2018 before I knew what the were really about. I, like so many others who don't know better, fell for their lies on their website about their concern for animal welfare. People need to know the truth, ugly as it may be. Puppy mills exist because the public funds them. When you shop at Petland, that is where your money goes. Petland is the only remaining national chain of pet stores to sell puppy mill puppies and they single handedly keep puppy mills in operation. People who sell puppies online and mom and pop pet stores also sell puppy milk puppies, but not to the extent that it would justify the costs of running a puppy mill. Petland sells the majority of puppies produced in the mills and they create create a market for those puppies where there would otherwise be none.

People think they are "saving" a puppy from pet store life when they buy a puppy from Petland, but they are not saving anyone. They are simply creating a space in a cage to be filled by another puppy mill puppy. For every $1200 on puppy sales, Petland buys 5-10 more puppies to suffer in the place of the one that was purchased. As long as there are people to buy these puppies, the mills will continue to produce them. Why wouldn't they? There are so many ignorant people out there that fall for the lies, who don't bother to do their research first, that they keep the puppy mills in thriving business and make Petland over 100 million dollars every year in revenue.

Many Petland locations are franchised, however, the Petland corporation maintains strict control over the operations of every store through their franchise contacts because they have a financial interest in the the revenue of each store, 4.5% a week to be exact. Corporate dictates from where the stores source their puppies. Store owners can only choose from a group of "approved suppliers", all of which are puppy mills.

Their sales staff are comprised of young, easily manipulated, inexperienced, money driven employeess in their late teens to early twenties. Their income is commission based and once they get a taste of the kind of money they can make, they will tell whatever lies they have to to make a sale and fatten their own wallets. They don't know enough to stand up for themselves or speak outt when something is wrong. And if they don't fit in with the Petland scheme, they are promptly fired and the darwinian sales team is like a bunch of pushy used car salesmen that wont take no for an answer.

They will tell you that their puppies come from USDA certified breeders, and in fact, many of them do. But don't be fooled- that sales pitch is not a good thing but rather an insult to your intelligence. The very fact that the breeders are inspected by the USDA means that they are puppy mills. The USDA oversees livestock, "Farmed" animals, as in puppy farms. The USDA enforces the Animal Welfare Act, the act requires only food, water, and 6 inches of cage space beyond the length of the animal. Many times, they do not even get that much at the mills because they only Care about maximizing profits while minimizing expenses.

Disease runs rampant in the mills, and most of the puppies are sick upon their arrival at Petland Stores, those who are not soon will be. Their diseases are highly contagious and are transmitted through airborne contamination. The sick puppies contaminate the others in transport and while housed at Petland. Petland knows they are all sick and they try to sell them quickly before signs of illness become readily apparent, during the incubation period of their diseases between when they are exposed and when they show symptoms which is approximately 7-10 days.

When I would arrive at work on the morning, there would be so much vomit and diarrhea in the puppies cages that it was impossible to tell what was what, let alone which of the multiple puppies it came from. Puppies die in Petland stores every day. Since they only pay $50-200 a piece for their puppies, the are not going to spend more in veterinary Care than they spent on the cost of the dog. Better to let it die and get credit for A new one from the breeders, They are dispensable and disposable "merchandise". I was reprimanded for doing a Fecal exam when I suspected parvo. They don't want to know if they have A parvo outbreak because then they will be held accountable if people know they know about it. They sell sick animals all the time. The will tell you the diarrhea is normal, the cough is just excitement, the lethargy is from playing,,,, none of that is normal. And when the puppy shows that it is sick or dies soon after you get it home, they will tell you its YOUR fault. YOU didn't care for it properly, YOU killed it. They will require you to take your sick puppy to "their vet" who is paid to say it was fit for sale and Petland will not be liable for anything. When you sign that puppy purchase contract, you agree to everything and you sign away your legal rights so that you will have no legal recourse. A contract is legally binding, no matter how unfair or slanted the terms. People are supposed to read contracts before they sign them, especially the fine print. And when you don't, you have no protection under the law. Petland knows this and uses it to their full advantage.

Petland will tell you they sell the puppies with a 14 day warranty and then direct you to their "preferred veterinarian" for your free exam, who will then fail to diagnose or misdiagnose the puppy's condition to save Petland from covering expenses under the "warranty". The vet then sends the puppies home to suffer in illness and often die from their treatable yet untreated conditions. By the time that happens, the warranty period is over and the owner is left without recourse. And for those who finance their puppy, they are still expected to make the monthly payments on a puppy that died because that financing option was not a line of credit like they lead you to believe, but was rather a loan for which Petland has already received their money and you are left having to repay the bank that issued the loan. They do not Care that the puppy has died, and neither does Petland. In fact, there are so many ignorant people out there to keep buying these puppies from Petland, that they don't even need to pretend they care when someone comes to them with a sick or dying or dead dog and thousands of dollars in vet bills incurred when trying to save the puppies lives. They do not need to Care about the terrible reputation they earn for themselves because they never run out of ignorant people to but their defective merchandise. They will just refer to you to "pawsitive solutions", claiming they are the warranty company, but who is really just a subsidiary of Petland they use to further the interests of Petland and screw over their customers. They will not help you.

Every Petland store has an "isolation" room in the back out of public view. In a veterinary practice setting, the iso room is where contagious patients are isolated from others while they are treated so as to avoid spreading contagious diseases. Not so at Petland. At Petland, the isolation room is where the sick animals are hidden away, not medically treated but in fact denied Care in order to hasten their death. This is because the owner sends then back to the breeders where they are given "credit" towards other younger less sickly puppies. If you have ever wondered what happens to the puppies that don't sell... they are sent back to the breeders for credit as well, and they are turned into breeder dogs. They will spend the rest of their lives in a cage. They do not come out for any reason. The are not socialized. The are not properly housed. They do not receive medical Care. Improper breeding practices at the mills lead to the production of puppies who are predisposed to genetic diseases that become evident later in the puppies lives, usually at age 3 yrs and later. Hip dysplasia, liver shunts, tumors, and many other typical puppy mill diseases. In addition, inbreeding and lack of socialization, causes aggressive behavioral traits in dogs. Those dogs are taught to fight for every little thing, a space to lay down, every crumb of food they eat.... all of which leads to aggression, aggression against other animals, and aggression towards humans as well.

You may think Petland is a pet store, but I assure you, it is not a pet store at all. The Petland business model is founded on a scheme to defraud consumers by knowingly selling genetically defective, inbred sickly puppies purchased in bulk for $50-200 a piece and selling them for thousands of dollars a piece under the guise of a sham warranty and with fake health certificates signed by the veterinarian with which the store had financial ties. Petland does not disclose their financial ties with the veterinarian who are paid in kick backs to so Petlands will, not do the veterinarian disclose the conflict of interest with the steady stream of new clients they receive from Petlands forcing customers to their practice under the terms of the puppy purchase contract and "warranty".

Petland is not A pet store at all, its just the place where their scheme is executed. They threw in some rawhides and chew toys and called it a pet store. They exploit animals, causing them to endure suffering and abuse, and they further the existence of the puppy mills while deceiving consumers with misplaced trust.

Puppy mills exist because the public funds them.

Don't fall for their lies.

You don't have to take my word for any of this. In fact, don't. Please do your own research and see for yourself. There is no excuse, in this age of technology, not to do your research before buying a puppy from Petland, or anywhere, for that matter. Educate yourself so that you can make informed decisions.

I always wonder how it is that people are able to find the time to go online and complain when their puppy is sick or died and they are out thousands of dollars and Petland Could Care Less, but yet they couldn't find the time to do their research before making the same mistake as so many before them....

I speak from personal knowledge and first hand experience. I am not an "activist" out am "extremist". I am simply a veterinary technician who cares about animals and cannot be silent when I have seen the animal abuse and the corruption with which this organization operates. They are disgusting and despicable and people should know who they are conducting business with when they spend their money in Petland stores.

Please...Do Your Research! Protect yourself and don't support the practices of Petland. They will NOT stop until they run out of victims that don't know any better..... why would they? They make hundreds of millions a year off those people. Greed only feeds greed...

Google "Dr. Good Petland Affidavit" Google the Humane Society Petland investigations Google the Cisneros vs Petland lawsuit Google INDIANA PUPPY PIPELINE AND PETLAND

And if your wondering how it is that Petland is still in business, if you REALLYwant to know the truth... if you want to know just how deep the corruption of this pet store" runs, watch the documentary "Dog by Dog". It explains Petland's political ties and their connections with agricultural corporations and the USDA.... LEARN THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT PETLAND!
