Two years ago my family and I found 5 abandoned kittens and took them in. After a few months we found new homes for 3 of them, and kept our two cats- Shuri and Nakia. I love both of them with my whole heart and they're the most important thing to me in the world. While the entire family loves them, me and my mom are both extremely bonded with them. My mom communicates better with Nakia, and I with Shuri.
I basically split my time between my parent's house and my girlfriend's house. Whenever I'm out of the house for a long period of time my cats get upset, but while Nakia will come for comfort to others members of the family, Shuri is more attached to me and will be depressed until I come back. Whenever I'm home, from the moment I wake up Shuri wants to sit with me in bed or the living room (though she prefers being in my room) and will follow me around for most of the day. Nakia also likes to be with me but will mostly sit with my mom or sleep in her bedroom.
I'm planning on moving out in the next few months (when I'll finish saving money) and moving into an apartment with a roommate and then with my girlfriend (she doesn't want to move out yet). I love my cats, and know I'll have an extremely hard time parting from them, but I'm willing to do what's best for them. My mom suggested that I take Shuri with me when I move out, because we all know she gets depressed when I'm not home. While I really want to do that, I'm scared that separating her from the rest of the family and her sister will effect her negatively. Plus, moving can be hard for a cat, and I know I will probably move a few times in the next few years.
So my question is, do you think I should take Shuri with me when I move out? Help very much appreciated ✨
