So this is the second time I have left for a trip and My 3 year old corgi mix has done this. Recently I left for a weekend trip, and when I returned my dog was whining to go (she was in a crate. my roommate watches her when I leave and had just walked her before I got back.) I took her out to go potty and immediately she poops. Then we went for a short walk and she tried to poop again but nothing came out.
And at 3 am (the reason for this semi angry post) she wakes me up whining and scratching at her crate and I didn’t get to her in time. She pooped in her crate and it was the most foul smelling poop I think she’s ever done. And there was blood.
I bathe her and left her in my shower to grab a towel. I came back and she had pooped again and there was more blood.
As I said this isn’t the first time she’s done this and I assume it’s the separation/anxiety that’s causing her to do this? Last time (a couple of months ago) I left for a little over a week and she did the same thing. However, since that last trip she has not done this til now.
Has anyone else experienced this? How did you handle it? And does anyone have any tips?
