I just got a new puppy and I've been pouring over sites and articles about how to train her, feed her, introduce her to my old cat (11years old). I want to be a good dog owner so I'm looking for help wherever I can get it. My cat is very chill with humans, he will let anyone pet him and loooooves laying on my husband's lap and my pillow. But he's also very aggressive towards other cats. He's an indoor cat cause we know he'd pick fights if he was outside. I'm trying to be gentle about introducing my new puppy to him but I'm still scared and very stressed about it. I'm not letting them near each other but it's almost impossible in my house for them to not see each other and my cat looks at my puppy like a predator and sometimes his tail puffs up. The cat has easy access to his food and water and access to the garage and the puppy does not. Is there anything else I can do? I know it will take time for them to at least tolerate each other but I want to avoid any violent confrontations between them. Please share your knowledge! 🐶🐱🙏
