I want to raise a cat but my family is kind of unsupportive about it

What should I do?Should I buy a cat or adopt one?I did some research but there arent adoption centers near my place and it's too far...I know buying pets isnt really a good thing but I really want a cat...

My grandma and aunt lives with me and they're really fussy about it and hate it when cats just wander around the house bcs there were times when I let stray cats into the house and feed them but they ended up littering on the floor,and they were really mad about it.Everytime they see a cat,they shoo it away or splash water on them.My heart breaks every time I see them do that...why do they have to be so hateful towards cats??My aunt tells me to not feed stray cats if they ever come to our house bcs they will come back for more but well..I never listened to her...and I get soo genuinely happy whenever I see a cat.

My parents are kind of okay but they get mad too if the cats cause trouble and they never let the cats sleep in the house,or stay in the house,they always me to put them in a cage outside the house.

Are cats meant to be put outside??Or is it okay to let them stay inside at night?And if they do stay inside the house,do they need a room?Or just the living room with some space and a cat bed and maybe even blankets will do??If I leave them alone at the living room at night,would they mess with the stuffs there?Or is it okay if cats stay in my room?

I srsly need some advice...I have experience taking care of cats over the past few years and I helped my brother's friends "catsit" his cats for a month last November bcs his friend went on a family vacation.. I really miss them now,3 of them were very naughty,and the 2 adult cats just liked to lie around the whole day.My parents,aunt and grandma never let them stay in the house for more than a few hours tho.they were always in the cage.and only allowed to be in the kitchen with me guarding them.

so...after this pandemic thing is over,(hopefully it will)and I can get out of my house,I plan to get a cat,of course,with my parents' permission...my birthday is coming soon and I rlly want to talk to them about getting myself a cat...I rlly need some advice :')
