So like the title says, I (18f) just adopted my kitty, Scully (10mo f), and she is sort of a rescue. She was brought to my local shelter about a week ago because her previous owners had too many animals in the house and she was being bullied by the other cats. I brought her home yesterday, and the minute I brought her home, she went straight under my bed. I left her alone under there because I figured the stress of the move was getting to her, and I knew she would need time to adjust to the place. I set up a litter box for her, a bed, a dish of food and water. She stayed under my bed all day and night, and it's been the same today.
As far as I can tell, she has not touched any of the food or water, nor has she used the litter box. It's been about 28 hours since I brought her home, and it doesn't appear that she has come out once. I figured it's sort of normal but she keeps just meowing randomly? Like every few hours, she'll let out a single meow and then go silent again for a few hours.
Should I try and bring her out from under my bed? Is she crying out to me for comfort or should I just leave her alone? I peek my head under every once in a while just to make sure she's ok and yesterday she was shaking pretty bad. Today she seems to be better but I'm still worried about her.
EDIT: So right after I posted this, she emerged from under my bed and went into the little house I got for her, so it seems like we're making some progress!
