So... I have a husky. We got her from a shelter and they told us that we were her third owners. Her first one was a breeder, second was a family who said that she kept guarding her food and growling. Progress to get her warmed up to the family was hard, but there has been significant progress. She reacts friendlier in most parts, altho she still has her moments and certain times of the day.
Now upon 2 ish 3 ish months we got her, she bit my 11yr old brother. He got a puntured face wound. From what I understood, he wanted to kiss her head, got too close to her face, and she felt threatened. My dad got real mad and already repremmemded her. 1st time.
2nd time which is now, she bit my bro again for getting too close to her face or maybe her general vicinity? He got another puncture wound right below his eye. My dad reprimanded her again to let her know what she did is unacceptable.
Now, my family is all discussing on how to move on. She has never bit any of my other family members. She seems to not like my brother more than any of us (which I still dont get cause he's not a bad kid or torments her other than maybe getting too close to her? My other dog also doesnt like my bro which is weird.)
If we keep her, its almost like waiting for another bite (3rd one) to my brother, which at that point my dad would never ever keep her. If we give her back to the shelter, its almost condemning her cause not a lot of people would want a dog thats been given back to the shelter 3 times and has a history of biting and being aggressive. We might euthanize her (i know very last resort) which is just fucking depressing. My dad suspects she might be wrong in the head.
I genuinely dont know whats better anymore. She can be a very sweet and loving dog but family comes first. And we just dont know if she will bite again.
Any advice?
