I brought my 17 year old cat from my moms house to my apartment (the first time he’s ever left the house other than dr. Appointments) and he’s been hiding under my bed for 5 weeks now. If it’s not the bed, it’s the hallway closet. He won’t come out to eat or use the litter box. This means everyday I’m cleaning up poop/pee under my bed. I’ve tried putting the litter box right next to my bed, coercing him out, and when I do get him out and put him in the litter box, he just runs off to hide again. I’ve tried to give him pet anxiety medicine, pet him, console him, give him treats and all the love I can. I thought he would warm up by now but he’s getting aggressive when I try to get him out from under the bed. I seriously have no idea what to do to try to help him. I’m so tired of having to move my bed and clean up under it everyday and I don’t know how to get him to warm up to living in a new home. I just want him to be happy because I know he’s so old.
