Hi everyone, my boyfriend and I adopted a 12-week old kitty a week ago. He is physically very healthy; eats and drinks heaps and uses the litter box regularly.
He is so adorable that it is extremely upsetting when he still hates us after a week of loving him so much and treating him with so much gentleness and patience. He comes out to play with us every now and then but never lets us stroke him or come to close to him. When we play with him he enjoys it, but it is almost as if, when he realizes the hand attached to the toy belongs to us, he immediately starts hissing. He hisses at us every time we come close, and he hides 60% of the day. I sit and talk to him often so he can get used to my voice. I realise he is scared and of course I am prepared to give him time. Just worried about him, and want him to be a happy kitten. Has anyone experienced this and if so, how long did it take for them to come out their shell? Also, any tips are more than welcome. Thank you!
