The other day I starting thinking about the how a lot of people who are constantly smoking cigarettes (who smoke inside their house) are pet owners. The thought of those animals living their entire lives inhaling secondhand smoke makes me sick to my stomach.
My mom's mom was a chain smoker and smoked to the point where if you were to place your hand on any wall or window, you'd have to peel your hand off the built-up sticky smoke residue. She had a puppy that developed what I can only describe as a "smoker's bark" it was harsh and raspy while other dogs of the same breed all usually have clear, high pitched barks (I don't know what the breed is called).
How is this not animal abuse? Is it already officially considered abuse and I just don't know?
