I had a dog while growing up and lost her in my mid teens. Now, in my late twenties and single, I’ve been wanting to get one for myself. I’ve been wanting one for years, but the only thing that has been holding me off is leaving it alone while at work. I’m away from home, at most, for 9 1/2 hours a day. I am mostly looking for adoption from a shelter and am worried about leaving it alone for too long. Is it too cruel/not a good idea to get a dog or am I overthinking it?
