My dog HATES harnesses. Whenever I put a harness on him, he just shuts down his body and doesn't move. Even when I show him his favorite treat, he doesn't move from his spot, and he just whines, begging us to take it off. I took him to his doggy training class today, and we worked on leash-walking, and naturally, my dog wouldn't (or couldn't) participate in class because of how much he hates his harness. After the class, I privately met with the instructor to find out the problem, and then the instructor started touching different parts of my dog's body. When she touched the right side of his body, a little bit around his rib cage, my dog started growling. It wasn't a playful growl, and it was clear he didn't like being touched their. This raises the question of: Is there something inside his skin that is hurting him there, or is his skin very sensitive to touches there, and that's why he doesn't like harnesses. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and what did you do to combat this?
