Last night, I noticed that my kitten would scratch at his ears and bend one down. I went to check his ears and saw that the tips were looking a bit pink and raw probably from the scratching, there were some specks inside. I thought it could be ear mites but since he's an only and indoor cat, I wasn't too sure.
For the rest of the night, he would just stay in my bed hiding under the pillows. This morning he was pretty normal and I even managed to get in a pretty hard play session, but then by lunch he'd hide out again in my room under the pillows, only going out to groom more than usual. Sometimes I'd take him out to eat or put him in another room, but then after eating he'd run back to his spot. He hasn't even gone out to use the litter box even once for like ten hours now.
Could this stress have something to do with the possible ear mites? Something else? Should I book a vet appointment asap? I'm also worried that taking him out to a vet might ramp up his stress levels even more? This has never happened before and I'm so worried :((
