We found a kitten screaming outside our house. We checked if she had a chip, no go. We checked the apl and they said they had to check if there was room for her first. In the mean time we couldn’t just leave her out there.
I didn’t see any flees on her, but she is a darker coat so we did buy a kitten Advantage, thank GOD. We kept her in our guest bedroom, and I probably had her in there for a couple hours before putting the treatment on her.
Apparently the little lady was at least somewhat infested! No idea how bad it is, but there were several flees crawling in the fleece (there’s a joke to be made here, I’m sure) blanket. Yikes. I assume no big deal, they’ll probably die soon. But today 20-24 hours, some were still crawling through the fleece! -.- now the fact that they’re not jumping around I take as a good sign, but I have no idea. We have an older cat who is allergic to flees, but like I said we’ve kept her in the bedroom either by herself or with just us.
I’m looking for some advise because I’ve never had a flea infestation, and the idea of one is TERRIFYING to me. Have you noticed after giving a pet flea meds that they jump off and are still wiggling about? Surely if they weren’t dying they’d be jumping not writhing? We’re washing the comforter now and we’re gonna vacuum the room. I also think I’m gonna give her a bath with dish soap to get the rest of the dead fleas off her. I just don’t know what the likelihood of us getting infested from this is, or what actions I can take from here to make sure my other kitty doesn’t get flees! Any thoughts, comments, concerns are welcome.
