How to deal with a completely food-obsessed kitten that’s becoming a legitimate problem?

I have a 3 month old kitten who is absolutely crazy for food. I can’t go in the kitchen without him diving under my feet and screaming until he is hoarse, and I have to feed him separately from my other cat—but the moment I open the door to feed the kitten, he dives to my other cat’s bowl so fast he slides across the kitchen. He screams and claws as I carry him to the other room to be fed because he wants to get to the kitchen, even if my other cat hasn’t even been fed yet! Just yesterday I made myself some soup and when he dove under my feet (he was asleep on the couch so I thought I had a moment to make it), I almost fell over him but dumped boiling soup all over my hand and had to go to the ER with a second degree burn.

My family and I have fostered kittens for years, but I’ve never had one so food obsessed. My mother says he’ll grow out of it, but I’d like to handle this appropriately rather than let this get out of hand if it’s not just a kitten thing.

Edit: he eats purina pro plan kitten wet food, and they both have purina dry food out throughout the day, but oddly enough he doesn’t scream for dry food and he doesn’t go through it quickly at all. He’s pretty normal about that. It’s only the wet food (or my soup apparently) that he screams for. He gets plenty of attention from me and my partner and is very close with my other cat. I know he and all his siblings would dive to my mom whenever she opened the door to feed them (she fostered this batch) but I’m not sure when they grow out of that. I know my adult cat was minorly food obsessed too and he grew out of it, but we got him at 5 months old so I’m not sure if this is something that should be this bad right now.
