Okay so a few days ago my cousin gave us a stray cat he’d found, he took the cat to the vet and got it it’s shots and everything before bringing the cat up. The cat is great, shy and a bit food aggressive from being a stray, but so sweet.
The only issue is i think he’s declawed, but I’m not for sure since I am strongly against declawing and no cat I’ve ever owned has been. He doesn’t seem to like to jump onto or off of things, when he stretches his front paws out he acts like it’s uncomfortable where my other two cats their claws peek out when they do that.
I know you can tell by pressing their paw pads, but Laszlo gets super upset and anxious when picked up or when I touch his paws. A few minutes ago he was pawing at my chair, but no claws were out and the other cats he will hiss at but nothing more. I noticed he does have his back claws, but I don’t know if they just take out the front or what.
How can I tell? Do I just watch and see if he scratches anything? Also if he is declawed will that impact his life span and quality of life? He’s only two and the vet said he’s healthy.
