My yorkie-poodle dog is approximately 10 years old and has a collapsed trachea. We give him medicine every day for it, and while he still coughs, it has definitely helped him. The vet said that he has rotten teeth and will need some removed, but in order to do that he needs to go under anesthesia. The vet said in all of his 20 years, he’s never had a dog with a collapsed trachea die under anesthesia, but that there are still risks and he can’t guarantee anything. He also said that having my dog keep the rotten teeth would be worse though. I guess what I’m asking is, does anyone have any advice on what to do/does anyone have any experience similar that they can share with me?
