He used to hit his bird as punishment, and the night before his bird died at 3 years old, he hit her cage to scare her because she was “being a brat”. I told him maybe I should report that, but he convinced me I should not because he regrets it and gave her a good life.
Recently he has been giving the cat human food. One of those foods were from a restaurant that may or may not use onion/garlic powder in their dish. This is fatal to cats. I am telling him it is wrong, he is telling me that it is right. He says that he is training her to not bother him while eating, and if the cat is well behaved he’ll give her human food.
Am I overreacting? Should I be worried?
EDIT: He says he has learned it is wrong to hit pets, and he would never do it again. He is very loving towards our cat which confuses me a lot. I feel like I’m overreacting, and he says people can change and he has changed.
