Hey all,
Today, my newly adopted dog was diagnosed with IMHA, or Evan's Syndrome, and I don't know what to do. I see a lot of differing information online about it, with some readings listing the mortality rate at 20%, others at 80%, and others somewhere inbetween. For now, they're giving her antibiotics and steroids, both twice daily, along with baby aspirin and pepcid AC. Has anyone had their dog go through this before? What can I expect? Will the steroids cause any side effects to be aware of? I feel especially guilty because we had been considering returning her to the shelter we got her from due to her attitude towards my roommate's cat (we were told "cat friendly", but I think this was a case of "some cats" and not all, and we're unsure if we're seeing her trying to play with the cat or if she sees the cat as prey, just quite yet), and I feel like doing so now would be the worst possible thing to do for her, despite the vet suggesting it and the shelter also suggesting it. I'm really hoping to get some guidance, or some insight/pointers from others
