I'm writing to ask about the likely hood of my kitten surviving distemper.
She had a fever on Tuesday the 27th and was given Anti-biotics and a multivitamin to help her eat. This went on until Saturday. During which time she was eating half to a full tea-spoon of assorted meals as well as natural chicken broth. And after a 5 day course of anti-biotics and vitamins she was fine (as much as she could be)
On day 6 (Sunday) she ate some royal canin kitten jelly and went for a walk but didn't want to walk too much, mostly sit in the sun. She was taken to the vet where she was put on fluids to help with her weakness.
After coming home she threw up a little (at first) but was walking around the room. He put her in front of an electric heater and she was sleeping comfortably but after some time she came back and wanted to sit on us. She had some anal swelling and leakage as well.
In the evening she had a minor diaherra stint and also threw up a foamy vomit. We immediately took her to a 24 hour care vet where she had a temp of 98.8.
She was left overnight under observation and was given anti-anemic, and fluids as well as oral syrup of anti-biotics and multi-vitamins.
She was then taken to the regular vet after and was put on fluids again to keep up her strength.
A blood test was done but the results haven't come in yet and the doctor asked me to keep her another night under observation. As far as I know her hydration and temperature are under control.
This is day 7 of the virus. I want to know if she has a chance to survive this. She ate a little bit today as well but less than a tsp.
She's currently with the vet on fluid therapy and medication. I'm seriously worried and according to the vet she's critical. She's also about 9 weeks old.
