So my dad's cat was supposed to be picked up today after surgery, but they called and said she "needed a bit more time to wake up from the anesthesia" and to call at 4. Unfortunately my dad fell asleep and work up at 6:30 (he's elderly) and now we're not sure what to do. The vet doesn't have any weekend hours and we have no way to call and see if she's okay/pick her up until Monday. I'd assume if anything went wrong they'd call me if they couldn't get ahold of him (I'm surprised they didn't when he didn't call then honestly).
Would it be inappropriate to call the on-call vet if there is one Saturday and see if he can arrange to pick her up? I'm literally nauseous with worry and have been since they called me at 2 and said she needed more time to wake up, I just want her to come home. I'm rather upset they didn't call me when they couldn't get ahold of him, they called me first so I know they have my number, plus she probably has to stay an extra two nights now and he'll have to pay for it, she's already been at the vet since Monday.
