Hey all, I know this is a fairly common thing to happen, especially when you're not yet familiar with how the cat operates. My cat has been with me for a little over a week now and has scratched me with each petting session. The thing is, I can never make out the warning signs because throughout the whole petting session, she's constantly headbutting me for more and pushes/rubs her body against my hand/arm/legs for even more pets. Then all of a sudden, she swipes or bites. Initially, I was petting her from head to tail so I figured that might be why, so I just let her pet me and kept the contact to her head, chin and halfway down her back. But I'm very apprehensive of petting her, which sucks because she's just begging for affection and I want to give it to her. Help?
