I'm writing a novel where the protagonist has anxiety and a pet dog. I've seen videos of service dogs performing specific functions to help people who are suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. However, I was just wondering if non-service dogs (a.k.a. the average everyday dog) can behave similarly to service dogs. If a non-service dog sees a person having a panic attack, for example, might it go to the person and try to comfort him by nuzzling his leg or, if he's standing, jump against the person to try and get his attention? Does it depend on the dog's personality or might the majority of dogs do something like this?
