This is a crazy story, but hopefully I can get some advice. I've been in contact with this girl for the past weeks who put an ad to give away a kitten (4 months old- her last one out of five). One of her conditions was to come drop off the cat at my place. She came over last night with her friend, seemed hesitant, dropped off the cat who immediately hid under the bed, and then left after 5min. We agreed that we would contact each other again within a week to see how the cat was doing.
20min later, she asked me if I had kids since I had a lot of toys inside. Those are my younger siblings, who often come over. I told her that I didn't have kids, it was my appartment, and that those were my siblings. She then texts me that her friend is having a panic attack and they both want the cat back and that she's coming back asap to my place. I told her to come back the next day since it was already 9PM but she still showed up and started ringing/banging non stop at my door, and then proceeded to text me that if I didn't answer within 15min, she would call the cops. I called the cops myself, as that was harrassment at that point. They came and told them to leave. She said she was ready to go to prison to get her cat back and that I was dishonest since I didn't mention there were going to be kids.
Cops also told them that it was their mistake to have left without the cat, since at this point she put an ad to give it away and she has, but that their only recourse was to go to civil court if they wished to.
Today morning, I woke up to 10+ missed calls and multiple texts from her and her friend. By 9 am, they were both in front of my house again and rang my door bell multiple times (all recorded). I was inside but didn't answer. I then heard her friend try to proceed to rip off my window net, unsuccessfully. I called the cops again, told them they were trying to break into my house, that it was my cat, I didn't want to give it back, and that I felt unsafe at that point. They came, asked them to leave and that if they came back, I could file a harrassment complaint.
The girl texted me that she will bring me to civil court and I should be expecting a formal letter from her lawyer soon, as she will not drop the case. She also texted me that I should prepare the "form she made me sign" since I will need it to defend myself. No form was ever signed EVER and I still have no clue what she is referring to. I have not answered to any of her texts or calls as I am keeping them as proof.
What are my rights at this point ? Anyone has any advice/opinion on dealing with this ?
