I've been trying to get rid of my neighbor's cat from my property for days now. I do woodworking outside on my deck and this cat must have noticed me being non-hostile or whatever and cozied up to me. Well this cat also jumps on all of my shit, uses my lumber as scratching posts, scratches my car up, tore up my grill cover, and shits everywhere including on some reclaimed wood. Not only that but there are multiple stray cats in the area that are much more wily than this one and they are constantly fucking fighting and hissing outside of my house which causes my dog to start barking and get antsy. NOT ONLY THAT--I have a fucking cat allergy.
I'm looking up ways to get rid of cats and literally everything I am reading is cat owners encouraging victims of roaming cats to spend exorbitant amounts of money on shit that DOES NOT work. Cat alarms, motion-detected water sprinklers, daily applications of fucking sriracha in the problem areas, crushed walnut shells, bowls of vinegar, the list goes on and on. People keep saying "unfortunately, cats can't be controlled and you just have to deal with them". No I fucking don't and if it becomes a real serious problem, I will deal with it in a serious manner.
Why am I obligated to spend money to keep your fucking pet off my property? Or better yet, why don't you fucking send me and everyone on the street an Amazon package filled with cat deterrents--then you can let your cat roam wherever the hell it pleases. Go ahead and drop $300 on motion detector sprinklers to cover my entire yard and a 200-pack bottle of sriracha annually so I can cover my entire fucking yard with hot sauce.
Why can't cat owners be obligated to build outdoor shelters for their cats so they can roam outside without annoying everyone in the neighborhood? Why do cat owners think that allowing their pets to roam outside is good for either the pet or their neighbors? No one wins in this situation except lazy cat owners who want all the benefits of having a pet but none of the downsides. You don't get to own a pet and disregard all of its needs and just force it to fend for itself outside. If your plan after getting a cat is to let it roam outside, do yourself and everyone around you a favor and just fucking don't. If you don't realize that owning a cat is not effortless and costs money and you are broke or irresponsible and cannot afford cat food, cat litter, cat toys, and the whole deal, then don't get a pet if you can't even take care of yourself.
Anyone who thinks this way, please go fuck yourself.
