My step father adopted a dog his daughter found online. Turns out the she was a "breeder" at a puppy mill, but turned out to be too small for breeding. She is a sweet mini dachshund, 3 year old. BUT: she only pees/poops inside her crate, hates being held/cuddled, is frightened by any sudden noise or action. We also realized that she had never been on grass. She's getting used to grass (even liking it). but dodges any embrace. And the house-training is a whole other issue.
My step-dad (age 83) has not the time nor the patience to work with her to become a fur baby, so I am taking her. I have adopted 2 rescues in the past who had issues that required work and patience, so I'm up to the challenge, I think.
The trust issues, I can work with, but any tips for the house-training will be much appreciated!
