As stated, I have been considering getting a dog, mostly for some companionship as I’ve been really lonely for a long time. My issues are that I’ve never been lucky enough to be a dog owner as in the past I’ve never been in a position where I would be able to provide the care and attention a dog deserves but the way things have transpired I have got plenty of time and love to give. Could you tell me some good books to read or websites with good advice for first time dog owners? What is a good breed for someone In my position? Would you recommend a rescue or should I go for a newborn puppy? What are a few things that you wish you knew before becoming a dog owner? Is there any essentials I should get beforehand? I’m absolutely clueless at the moment so any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone, and sorry if this has come across as insensitive or arrogant but I really am an absolute novice.
