So my parents split up about two years ago now, father going to an apartment & mother and sister a house. The family dog, who’s 11 years old now, stayed with mom so he’d have more room.
Here’s the thing: my dog does not like my mother nearly as much as he does my dad. My dad was the dog’s “person,” and now they’re separated. On top of that, my mom doesn’t take good care of him- rarely taking him on walks or to see other dogs or family members or to ride in the car; his quality of life has declined so much over these past 2 years and I feel so so so bad for him. His activity level is close to none and he definitely misses my dad. He is super happy when he gets to see him, and my dad misses him too.
I truly think he has dog depression and don’t know what to do. I guess there’s nothing I can do, I’m mostly just looking for some sympathy or comfort tbh.
