Advice for helping new cat?

So my partner and I adopted our cat at the beginning of the week. She’s the loveliest thing in the world and she’s settling in well, however she has a couple of issues that we’d like to deal with ASAP.

The first one is that for the first two years of her life she was left alone / exclusively with children for most of the time, as such she has a big thing about being alone. We can cut down time that we’re both out of the house and the place we adopted her from is also a cattery so when we’re out for overnight stays she can go to people she knows.

The issue is that she cries even if we’re both in the house if she can’t find us, generally at least once a night (we do leave our door open so she can cuddle if she wants). This means that I can’t go and use my workshop (as she’s not allowed up there) without her crying. Is there any way we can help her be calm in the house without knowing where we are?

Related to this is the other issue we have, which is that there’s a chance we may have to ban her from our room when we’re sleeping as she will hunt our feet and legs if they move slightly. How can we train her out of this behaviour?
