Am I babying my dog too much?

Myself, my partner and two dogs went camping this long weekend. Harper is my 1.5yo lab x and Aslan is my 3yo collie x kelpie. They're both pound dogs and have always been very sooky.

So back to my question, we were camping with some friends and their family, as well as their dog. Their dog is great off leash and has a wonderful recall. But they do yell at it a lot. He isn't allowed inside at all and sleeps outside while camping. I don't see anything wrong with this, but there were some comments made about how I parent my dogs.

My two have sweaters for when it's cold at night, sleep in our tent and really enjoy being lap dogs and getting cuddles. Aslan has only just been allowed off leash and Harper is distracted by absolutely everything so she stays on a long leash tied to a car, or when she's calm we unclip her so she still thinks she's tied up but gives her a little more room.

At home they sleep in bed with us, nap on the lounge, they are my babies. They don't always listen when there's too much going on but do a lot better at listening in a quieter environment. Am I babying them too much? Should they be better behaved when it is a little louder?
