Care advice for cat with non-visible injuries after dog fight

My very active cat was in a fight today with a neighbor’s dog. They really went at it, for about 15 seconds or so.

Immediately following their fight, my cat acted as expected when we returned to our house: he was on high alert and wanted to be left alone.

He was initially able to jump up on all his usual perches, and he ate his dinner as usual. I’ve done a thorough check, and there are no open wounds on him.

But it’s now about 3.5 hours later, and while he’s curled up with me, he’s sensitive if I touch him in a couple spots, and he’s now having some difficulty just jumping up onto the couch.

Obviously he’s got some sort of internal injuries. How worried should I be, and at what point should I take him to the vet (earliest one is open in our rural area would be Monday)? I’m hoping he’ll feel better in a day or two.
