So I think it is kind of obvious he may be associating this with me getting ready to leave the house, and that is what is bothering him.
I have 2 cats (a 15lb tabby, and a 7.5lb sweetheart of a cat) and my larger cat, Tony, has been getting worse with this behavior. We mostly hang out upstairs, and that's where all of their play toys are (lots of tunnels, perches, boxes, windowsills, etc). However, when I am downstairs, and especially when I am cleaning/walking around he gets mean af sometimes. It happens more often when I am getting dressed or putting on my shoes.
In the morning I normally feed them as I am getting ready and leave the house promptly, so he is preoccupied with eating and doesnt bother me. However, yesterday I was doing some yardwork and entering/leaving the house frequently, and he was flipping out hissing/scratching at me.
Not quite sure what to do about it! When we're upstairs hes so nice, playful, and likes to cuddle, but downstairs he gets anxious and mean.
Any thoughts on how to break this behavior? Nothing I seem to do helps!
