Two of my roommates have had a cat for roughly a year now, and when they moved in here he mostly just stayed in their room and never even went downstairs. He seems very skittish and prefers to be alone.
The roommates decided to get a new cat so that he would have a friend, and they got an 8 week old kitten who is also male. As soon as he saw the kitten he started hissing at it, and then began hissing at them as well. I think it's been two days now and this morning I woke up to find him in my room, not their's which is unusual as he rarely decides to come in here. When they noticed he was in here and tried to take him back in, he immediately ran back out the door, twice.
Normally i'd just say to give him a few days and he'll get a little more used to it, but he's not even eating his food which is surprising because normally he's excited to eat in the morning.
I'm just wondering if there's anything that will help with the transition.
