While on my search for a cat, 6 of the ones I spent time with in the shelter purred when I was petting them, I took that as a sign of them being affectionate and enjoying it. Today, I was petting this cat who seemed really vocal to get my attention but after a few pets she'd wander off and explore her surroundings, I figure that she's just a curious cat.
However, this is the first time I petted a cat without them purring so it caught me by surprise. I plan on visiting her again sometime this week and try spending more time with her before considering adopting her. As of now, I really like her as she's the only one who doesn't mind being picked up however she isn't much of a lap cat.
FWIW, these cats are 1-2 years old.
