Well, it looks like my 2 year old lab might be diabetic. We will know more at the end of the week when he goes back to the vet, but it looks to be the case. He's my baby, and I'm panicking a bit.
I've never had a pet that needed daily medication. I'm not worried about giving shots, it just feels very overwhelming to go from thinking my dog had worms, to he might be dependent on insulin for the rest of his life. He is so active, and I'm scared that will be taken away from him.
The price of insulin is something we can easily afford, and I'm grateful for that. But I'm worried about more health issues down the line as a result of his diabetes. Do those of you with diabetic pets recommend insurance?
Any advice for people with diabetic dogs would be really appreciated. I want this to go as smoothly as it can.
