I love this little fur ball but I'm kind of at my wits end with trying to deal with him. Currently an 8 month old orangeish/creamish american shorthair and he's a menace. I set up a 5 foot scratching tower in the living room and while he uses it, also still tries to scratch the furniture. Even after using the deterrent spray or plastic padding to stop him. Same for the bedroom. I set up 2 scratching pads but he will continue to destroy my bed and chair with scratches. He has too much energy and doesn't want to play. He will bolt around the apartment in a frenzy for literal hours, meowing nonstop at nothing. Trying to get him to play with toys of any kind hold his attention for 5 - 10 mins like he has ADHD and will continue the frenzy. He won't accept pets during this time, even after he runs up to you meowing for 'attention'. This is his favorite. He runs into empty rooms meowing nonstop and runs away from me if I go to check whats wrong. I can't exactly play chase him around the apartment if that's what he want. You also can't approach him from the direction he's going or he'll freak out and peel out. Even a month after neutering to try and curve the behavior he still just get's too crazy. This isn't exclusive to night either. He's actually calm at night and will sleep right next to me in bed from like 10pm to 5am. I just can't seem to find any articles anywhere that offer any more solutions I haven't tried. My vet chalked it up to him being young and when he gets older he'll mellow out, but I can't wait that long :/
