Alright, here is the thing. I own a young cat, she's like 1 year old now and I really want her to not die. I live in a busy area of the city in a rental apartment that is on the third floor (like 9-10m high or so). It has no AC so it can get really hot in the summer, higher than 35C. This heat is quite uncomfortable, not only for me but also for my cat. However, I can't open certain windows more than 5cm because my cat will otherwise climb out (she has done so before, balancing on the outside edge of the window) and one misstep would probably be a fall to her death. I used to open the small awning windows that are above the 'main' windows, and she never really showed interest in them up until last week. I saw her just sitting in the opening. So I shooed her off because I don't want her to jump on and fall down through the gap because she is dumb and misjudged it (thinking there is some sort of platform to jump onto). The window can only be opened fully and then the opening is large enough for her to fall through. Since then, I've seen her planning on jumping on but stopped her from doing so with a voice command and closed the window. Ever since then, I have kept that window closed.
So I wonder if more people own cats that do this or have done this and what you do to prevent them from doing it.
