Basically how long did you wait until getting a pet and when did you know it was the 'right time'? I'm really keen for a dog and have been for a while now, the main things holding me back are the fact I live in a rental house with no garden (park outside) and I'd have to ask the landlord, and I'll probably have to get a part time job at some point so the dog may be left at home for some time alone. I'm in my 20s too, and while I know I'll be in the same spot here for 2 years, we'll probably have to move because either myself or my partner will be starting a phd.
When did you know you were ready for a pet? Before when I was a student I knew that it was practically impossible to get a dog, but now I've graduated and live in a big house near lots of parks and woods it seems like I could potentially do it, I would just have to make a few life adjustments and find a few work-arounds to make it work.
