My wife and I adopted a puppy (8ish months old) from our local animal shelter on Friday.. he’s spent, what seems, his entire life there. So obviously I know it’s going to take some work. He’s basically scared of everything, including his food bowl.
I spend every second I have with him.. loving on him.. cuddling with him.. walking him.. (which he allows) giving him what he never had. He already knows his new name, which is pretty cool. But no matter how much time I spend with him, by the next day it’s like he forgot it already? And we’re back at square one.
I completely understand this is all new to him, and yes, it’s going to take a long time. I just really could use some pointers and advice on how to help him. Anything helps.
