[Rant] I know this is posted ALOT but PLEASEEE don't start fussing a dog without asking the owners permission first!

Hi redditt! I know that this issue is posted about alot in the r/pets communtiy, but please ask the owner before fussing a dog. We have a 1 year old rescue collielab cross, she is very energetic & loves people, but has a habbit of jumping and mouthing people when she gets really excited. We have been working really hard to make her stop & ask all our guests / friends and family to not acknowledge her until she calms. We have used this practice on walks and ask people continuously not to fuss her until she has calmed down for both her safety and ours. We walk her at hours when we know there wont be many people around and try and avoid situations by crossing the road ect.. But it has become almost a constant issue where people come up to her an just start fussing her because she looks cute. I've had instances where ive explained to people not to pay attention to her until she is calm, theyve completely ignored me, then get cross that she has mouthed them. One lovely gentleman decided to rant at me how to discipline MY dog. Its got to the point where i have to avoid people where i can & use the "oh shes rolled in something i wouldnt fuss her" speech.

I have no problem with people giving her a fuss once they have spoken to me or my partner & let her calm before giving her some fusses.

Please, please check that you are okay to approach and pet a dog!!

Rant over!
