I adopted my cat from the ASPCA about four years ago and she has always been highly stressed and anxious. Any movement or unexpected sounds and she will dart away. She is very vocal when she is not sleeping.
I have taken her to the vet for a physical exam and they've also examined her urine, feces and ran blood tests which show nothing wrong. She has maintained a healthy weight and uses the litter box in a normal fashion.
I have tried the feliway type diffusers with pheromones but they don't seem to have any effect. I bought "calming" cat treats but she won't eat soft chews;only crunchy treats. My vet prescribed an anxiety medication but she won't eat a pill pocket treat either. I try not to feed her wet food because unfortunately she projectile vomits it maybe once a week and it really sucks to clean up. Otherwise I'd just mix the tiny pill into that.
It looks look Royal Canin does have a "calm" dry food that seems to have pretty good reviews, although it is quite expensive. I could always experiment with a smaller bag and see if any changes.
Any suggestions? I try to be as calm and nice to my cat as I can to reduce stress, but her vocalness sometimes drives me nuts lol.
