A couple weeks ago now, I adopted an adorable 8 month old, Cattle dog/ Australian mix from my local shelter. The day we brought her home, I took my other two older dogs (6y and 7y) to meet her at the shelter and the meeting went pretty well! But over time now, my 7y old dog is terrified of her. Nearly everytime she gets near him he starts to growl, whine, and show his teeth. I thought he may get over it (because he’s lived with bigger dog before with no problems) but now I’m not so sure. The new dog is also really hyper and when she moves too quickly it’s scares him. I’ve tried and read all the articles on how to introduce and get dogs to get along, but none of it has worked. I love this new dog, but I’m worried I won’t have enough energy for her, and my 7y old dog is going to continue to be in a constant state of panic. I’m starting think she would fit better in a different home.
Any suggestions on what to do?
