Dietery help after bladder blockage

My two tear old male kitty, Rufus had a blockage in his bladder. We rushed him to the vet, they were able to express his bladder and sent us home with medications. Today we were able to bring the vet a urine sample and he says they found red and white blood cells along with Struvite crystals.

When he called us with those results he urged us to switch cat food brands, insisting upon Royal Canin Urinary SO. We currently feed both of our cats Taste of The Wild, mostly dry food but once a week we give them wet food. We call it “Treat day.”

My question is, should I trust this recommendation? I am so skeptical of doctors and vets and the relationship they have with sales people at these large corporations that incentivize the promotion of their product.

I want to buy our cats the best food and I want them to live long lives as part of our family. Is there a trustworthy resource to turn to? A highly recommended food brand by this community? Cooking them food myself or a raw diet?

Im not sure where to turn but am worried and don’t want to be lead astray. Anything helps.

Thank you
