He is an older dog who never goes inside the house except for some rare accidents that haven’t happened for a few years. But then my sister started letting him use puppy pads in her room, which is where she keeps him when no one is around to watch him. He started automatically going whenever someone would lock him up, so she’s basically un-housetrained him. I recently started feeling bad for him always being locked in her room, so I started letting him hang out with me all day but now, I’ll wake up to dog poop on my floor. He lets me know when he needs to pee outside, but the thing is, he seems to prefer pooping inside because he’ll still do it even if he’s had plenty of opportunities to go do it outside or even if he HAS already done it outside recently. I’ve never housetrained a dog, and I don’t know how to handle this situation where he already knows how to go outside but I need to make him stop preferring to use the house as his toilet. Any advice?
